Good Design in Lounge and Dining Furniture for Education

To create good designs for learning in higher education settings, there are many things to consider, depending on the environment and the community within the environment. But when thinking about creating good design there are three questions you should ask for all educational high education spaces.

  1. 1. What kind of activity will take place in the spaces?
  2. 2. Can the spaces be set for collaboration?
    • 3. Are the spaces flexible or adaptable, can they become all things to most users? Because flexible spaces are money savers, reducing the university’s need for more spaces.

The designs in this blog answer all three questions in the affirmative. The following designs are from Kwalu and are good designs in lounge and dining furniture for higher education.

Lounge seating and occasional table solutions for education spaces

The Cori Lounge fills a smaller footprint than most lounge seating models making it an easy choice for college dorm/study areas. The ergonomics of the seat create long lasting comfort, allowing students to study or converse. Add the love seat and sofa of this lounge collection plus the Minori Ottoman, and  Diamante occasional tables and you’ve staged a collaborative and stylish space for students.

A curved bench creates possibilities in education spaces

Versatility and functionality are what the Palma Bench provides. Stately university spaces, especially on older campuses, typically have pillars and columns which are architecturally stunning but can hinder collaborative study. The curved Palma can turn those ‘hinderances’ into inspiration by forming circular seating around them. But the flexible Palma doesn’t stop there. Each freestanding bench can be grouped to create a wave-like casual seating effect. Pair with solid surface ottomans and cantilever occasional tables and you find students spending a lot of time in this room.

Tables and stools can serve double duty in education spaces

On a college campus a large space specifically designated as a café can easily become a study space or an impromptu meeting space with the long Lecco Tables and Madrid Counter and Bar Stools. The Lecco is available in multiple sizes. It can be bar and counter height, and each can be fitted with a power grommet of 2 power outlets and 2 USB ports to make sure students are charged and connected. The Madrid Stools are made of the coveted and easily cleaned Kwalu Classic material. The arms create the back support piece that also makes these stools easy to position.
