Materials Matter
42 years ago, Kwalu set out to create furniture that could hold up in healthcare environments. Not just in how it looked at installation, but in how it performed over time through daily use, constant cleaning, and the pace of environments that never really stop.
That challenge required a different way of thinking. Not simply refining construction or design, but reconsidering the material itself.
Inspired by the resilience of the Protea flower, Protea™ was developed to withstand repeated use, constant cleaning, and the realities of healthcare and senior living environments without breaking down or needing frequent replacement.
Materials Matter explores how material innovation continues to shape the long-term performance, durability, and experience of healthcare and senior living furniture.
